Development of Geobiology: China and beyond

Geobiology, a new field to explore interactions and co-evolution between Earth and life in modern environments as well as through time in Earth’s history, is rapidly becoming the equal of geophysics and geochemistry as the focus of major disciplines in the earth sciences matures. Dr Xie in the MGP is one of the leading professors to the development of geobiology in China and beyond. He is the member of the advisory board of the journal of Geobiology. He organized international conference on geobiology for three times and an international workshop on geobiology. He organized geobiology sessions in several international conferences including the IPC and Sino-Germany conference. He published the first monograph of geobiology in Chinese, and organized to publish a monograph in strategical development of Chinese disciplines: Geobiology. Due to his great and leading contribution, China is recognized as one of the international leaders in the development of geobiology.
