Gas chromatograph-thermal conversion-isotope ratio mass spectrometer (GC-TC-IRMS; Thermo Delta V advantage IRMS coupled with a Trace GC, GC Isolink and Conflo IV). In our lab, this instrument is mainly used to analyze the hydrogen isotope composition of leaf wax n-alkanes (δ2Halk). Then we apply δ2Halk to track the changes of Holocene hydroclimate in the monsoon regions of China. Besides, we also analyze the hydrogen isotope compositions of microbial lipids, such as PLFAs and hopanes, and employ these data to reflect ancient biogeochemical processes in various geological archives.
